A 5 DAY CERTIFICATE COURSE RUN BY BOB COOKE, TSTA
This 5 day Certificate course is for people who have already attended the TA101 or use Transactional Analysis in their workplace or clinical practice.
It is aimed specifically for people who use transactional analysis in their work as a psychotherapist, counsellor, social worker and mental health professions.
As the title suggests, the content of this course is concerned with the clinical methods and application of TA and, therefore, its delivery will be experiential and practical rather than didactic in nature.
This course carries a Post Graduate certificate and will be run by Bob Cooke who is a Teaching Supervising Transactional Analyst and has had over 35 years of clinical experience in the area of Transactional Analysis and Integrative Psychotherapy. He is well known in the area of Transactional Analysis and Integrative Psychotherapy and has an extensive YouTube Channel. He is the founder of the Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy.
Module 1 – Monday 7th September 2026 – Contracting. In this module we will be looking at how to use contracting from a transactional analysis standpoint and you will get the chance to practice the use of contracting and the various pitfalls to be aware of at a clinical level in the practice of contracting. We will also touch on the history of transactional analysis from its early inception to modern day times.
Module 2 – Monday 21st September 2026 – Ego States – Two Chair Work. In this module we will be discussing the use of the PAC model at a clinical level and practising various techniques that you might want to use when dealing with the different conflicts of the self. This will include the Parent and Child dilemma and Decontamination.
Module 3 – Monday 28th September 2026 – How to Work with the Child Ego State. This will include techniques of how to access the Child Ego State with the aim of deconfusion at a clinical level. Again, we will revisit the two chair work and look at the influence of the Parent Ego State when we are visiting the Child Ego State.
Module 4 – Monday 5th October 2026 – How to Work with the Script at a Clinical Level. This will cover Script Analysis, Injunctions, Drivers and how to put a new show on the road from a clinical perspective.
Module 5 – Monday 12th October 2026 – How to use Transactional Analysis in a Group Setting. This will include Contracting, boundary settings, pitfalls of running groups etc. from a TA perspective.
