Art Markman in his column for YouBeauty discusses the idea that confidence is a self fulfilling prophecy. If you believe you will succeed then you are on your way to success and your confidence carries others with you on your journey.
So why does your own level of confidence matter so much in life? Art says it’s because people are frequently making judgements about quality. He discusses the experiment carried out by the psychologist Dan Ariely. The experiment involved Ariely getting people to think about the value of him reading his poetry to them. One group he asked how much they would be willing to pay, the other group were asked how much he would have to pay them to listen to his poems.
So which group thought his poetry was more ‘desirable’? Read on and see if you were right!
