I hold a deep respect for our longing to know ourselves, for our capacity to seek the light and change even when we are tired and worn down. I believe we are all seeking a deeper connection to ourselves, to each other and to the world around us, and that we feel lost when we do not know how to change. It is hard for us to be in relationship with another person if we are not in relationship with ourselves. Psychotherapy can be uncomfortable and challenging at times, but it can also provide a pathway for you to transform your life and your relationships.
I qualified as a person-centred counsellor in 2006 but then stumbled across a Transactional Analysis seminar, and I was immediately hooked. I had 2 young children at the time, and I was finding the transition into parenthood difficult. I entered TA therapy the very next week. I quickly moved into group therapy, and from there I re-trained in Transactional Analysis.
I work with adults individually, in couples and in a weekly psychotherapy group that started in 2017. I have therapeutic experience of working with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship and parenting challenges, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, joylessness and lack of direction.
Prior to opening my private practice in 2014, I worked in many frontline roles: Greater Manchester Probation Service, domestic abuse work for Women’s Aid and delivering training to the NHS, part-time Lecturer in Psychology at Salford University.
