Have you been on Facebook today? Have you posted a status perhaps? How does it make you feel when someone likes or comments on your post?
When you post on Facebook you do it so that people can read and appreciate it. In a recently published study researchers found that they could predict people’s Facebook use by looking at how their brain reacted to positive social feedback in a scanner. The area in your brain that processes feelings of reward was highly activated the more time the volunteers spent on social media sites.
The researchers came to the conclusion that this social affirmation is addictive; which may explain why some of us tend to spend so much time on Facebook!
