The aim of this 5 Day Workshop is to enable people working with both children and/or adults to be able to respond effectively to their clients’ trauma. We will consider the effects of trauma on the brain, mind, body, behaviours and subsequent motivation. Empathic listening, reflective dialogue and therapeutic interventions that will support the client in their day to day living will be explored. Models of trauma will be discussed and therapeutic tools and techniques will be used. This experiential 5 day certificate will look at the effects of compassion fatigue, secondary trauma and how we as practitioners need to look after ourselves when working in this area.
This course will be of value to all practitioners including nurses, teachers, probation officers, social workers, counsellors and psychotherapists.
